Blackberry & Banana Protein Shake Recipe

Freshly picked blackberries and bananas in a shake?  Count us in!  This easy to follow recipe blends the normally strong tasting blackberries into a more mellow milkshake style drink and is packed with vitamin C and plenty of muscle building protein.

This shake will be one of our featured shakes at the September food festival in Ludlow and hopefully it will prove a hit.  The berries are homegrown but you can buy them in most supermarkets relatively cheaply or even gather them from hedgerows during the late summer and autumn months. If you do go gathering blackberries wear gloves to protect your hands from the spines and jeans to prevent the nettles from stinging you.

INGREDIENTS:

  • handful of fresh or frozen blackberries
  • 1 banana
  • 350ml of almond milk or coconut milk
  • 1 scoop of MyProtein Vanilla Whey
  • 1 tbsp of oats (optional)
  • 1 tbsp of maple syrup (optional)
  • hand of ice

DIRECTIONS:

Pop it all in a blender, putting the liquids in first and blend it up.  Serve it up straight away with an optional garnish of a couple of blackberries.
